Fibro challenges my clothing, underwear (!) and shoe choices. Always seeking softer and looser. Would love to hear how others are finding solutions.
I buy cotton alot, and order 2 sizes bigger than my real size. I buy longer, flowier shirts, and cotton loose fitting capris and pants. I also buy cotton briefs, i.e. granny panties. I alternate between berkenstock supportive sandals, soft slippers, and memory foam slip on sport shoes, depending on how swollen I am. Hope this helps. Also, loose oversized cotton nightgowns.
You didn't say anything!
I don't know how big your sensitive areas are? I never had a tremendous burden from this, but I have had very good success with controlling skin pain outbreaks by trying to control mast cells. Have you ever read about some of the fibromyalgia/mast cell research? I can give you some of this info if it's a new topic for you. Of course some people have more skin mast cells than I do, or a heavier burden of things that trigger mast cells, but I think this is something worth investigating. Are mast cells a new topic to you, or something you have already considered & experimented with?
Im sorry you have this sensitivity, but Im so glad Im not alone. I go for baggy/loose clothing and all cotton. Wear as few layers as possible (one of the many reasons I hate the cold weather!) and comfortable shoes. We dont wear shoes in the house and Im barefoot as much as possible. Have a good pair of Dansko sneakers and lots of flip flops which I know are not good to wear. I also have severe IBS so its always, I hate to say it, elastic waistbands. Sometimes I look at all my pretty clothes and my makeup I never have energy to put on and just feel sad.
